Villard-Reculas

A picturesque small mountain village situated on the south side of Alpe d’Huez at an altitude 1550 metres. The ski possibilities reaches an altitude of 3330 metres, and snow-canons in Villard Reculas have ensured a ‘snow-sure’ return to the village. Strict building regulations have ensured the authenticity of Villard Reculas. Chalets can only be built if they comply to these special conditions. No high buildings and even the ski-lifts are hidden! It’s what makes Villard-Reculas so special.

Villard-Reculas can provide all you need during your holiday: there is a grocer’s to supply your fresh bread, daily papers and a wide range of food items.
There are two shops for your ski or snowboard equipment (guests of chalet ‘il fera beau demain’ obtain discounts on equipment hire)
There is a hotel/restaurant, a bar/restaurant, a little auberge and a restaurant situated on the ski-slopes.
It’s possible to obtain your fresh cheese at the goat farm located in the lower part of the village. And of course you have the restaurant ‘Bonsoir Clara’ in the same chalet ‘il fera beau demain’. Enjoy a marvelous meal and explore the French cuisine.

The Tourist Information will be pleased to inform you about activities and events in the village. During holiday periods they organise many activities, animations, guided walks and small festivals. On Sunday evenings at the tourist office you can meet other guests at the welcome-drink, the ‘Pot d’accueil’.
Children from 5 till 12 years old can amuse themselves at childrens club ‘Club des petits Loupiots’. For the very young children you will find a safe place to play in childrens-garden in the center of the village. You can obtain tennis-rackets from the Tourist office, and use the tennis-court for free. Or perhaps you prefer badminton or table tennis – that’s also available.


On the first Sunday in August we have the traditional ‘Fete de Village’ and later in the month the popular magic-festival will commence in Villard-Reculas and also visit the other local mountain-villages of the Vallée de L’Eau d’Olle.

During the skiing season you can obtain your ski-passes at the ski pass ticket-office located within the tourist office. Also in the same building is the Villard-Reculas ESF (Ecole de ski Francais) ski-school. For further information visit the website of Villard-Reculas: www.villard-reculas.com.
